Hey guys!
We have a couple of "department mailboxes" that are over 50 GB in total size. Exchange 2010 is what is running server side.
Users are complaining of Outlook performance issues and we happen to have our email hosted in another country. Disabling Outlook's "Cached Exchange Mode" is only a temporary fix.
I need to find a way to archive these mailboxes and then host the pst's in a way that each team member will be able to view the email. I think that a web based solution would be the best. I can educate the users on how accessing "archived" email will be performed. Preferably with LDAP synchronization so administering access will be easy for the help-desk team.
Solutions that I have looked into:
Zimbra Email --> Licensing may be an issue, we are in a large corporation. Also, Zimbra's PST import tool does not allow for attachments of over 10 MB, which we happen to have.
Exchange 2010 --> Corporate does not want to play ball.... Corporate suggested us to delegate a member of management to manage the email, this will not work. Corporate also suggested upgrading our WAN link which is not going to directly address the issue at hand.
PileDriver --> This archives “bulk imports” of emails. Has a PHP web based GUI and supports LDAP authentication. This should be easy to grant access to specific “mailboxes” based on group membership. Does anyone have any experience with this??
MailArchiva --> Same as PileDriver but not open source. Has licensing requirements.
Anyone have any suggestions in addition to the list?? Anyone have experience with any of the above?
Thank!
